ENGR325: Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics is an exciting and fascinating subject, commonly taken by students in chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, as well as other disciplines. This course deals with energy, which is essential for sustenance of life. It has a broad application area ranging from microscopic organisms to common household appliances, transportation vehicles, and power generation systems. This course will introduce you to the basic principles of thermodynamics, and present you with a wealth of real-world engineering examples to give you a feel for how thermodynamics is applied in engineering practices.
Chapter 1:
Introduction
This introductory chapter establishes the foundational vocabulary and basic concepts of thermodynamics, defining it as the science of energy and its transformations.
Chapter 2:
General Energy
Analysis
This serves as the fundamental principles of energy, energy transfer, and general energy analysis. It defines the various forms of energy, distinguishing between macroscopic types like kinetic and potential energy and microscopic types known collectively as internal energy.
